The “Race of the 8 oaks” of Bodegas Nodus is an opportunity to run among vineyards, surrounded by nature, along paths and paths that run through agricultural colonies, centuries-old holm oaks, cisterns and the unique environment of the Utiel-Requena area. The “Race of the 8 oaks” of Bodegas Nodus celebrated its fourth edition last Sunday, May 8.
From 10 am, dozens of runners and runners enjoyed a different and attractive test. Organized by Corremón Valencia and sponsored by San Benedetto, Atmósfera, Venta del Moro City Council, Hotel Rural Entreviñas and Innove, the event had a charitable background, since part of the registrations went to the NGO International Cooperation.
A unique race, around forests, vineyards and monumental oaks and, of course, ended with a tasty post-race lunch to try the wines of Bodegas Nodus and the gastronomy of the area.
The “Race of the 8 oaks” of Bodegas Nodus is a 10-kilometer pedestrian event that has a positive drop of 120 meters. It runs entirely along dirt tracks within the facilities that Bodegas Nodus has at Finca El Renegado, located in the municipalities of Venta del Moro and Caudete de las Fuentes, in the region of Plana de Requena-Utiel, to the east from the province of Valencia. Finca El Renegado hides a small treasure that many are unaware of and that is the backbone of the race route. These are eight hundred-year-old oaks that are included in a protection program and that crown an environment that surprises for its beauty and sustainability.
The appointment has a 10K Race, which awards prizes in the male and female categories. In addition, there are also children’s modalities. All the classifications can be consulted on the Runática website.
This fourth edition of the race was again a success of participation. The test brought together almost a hundred participants who enjoyed a unique route.
Miguel Esteban was the first to cross the finish line in the men’s category, with a time of 41 minutes and 30 seconds, while Mariemy Azorín was the winner in the women’s category, with a time of 52 minutes and 17 seconds. Esteban and Azorín also won first place in the veterans category and, in the men’s master category, the first classified was Tomás García, who finished with 43:53 and third place in the final classification, and in the master category female the first classified was María José Nicolau, with a time of 58:23. In the promise category, the first male classified at the finish line was Fran Giner, with a time of 54:36, while the first female classified was Mar Fas, with a time of 01:02:43.
After the award ceremony for the winners, the organization offered the participants at the Hotel Entreviñas, a wine tourism project located within the estate, a popular lunch with cuisine from the Utiel-Requena area. All this, paired with organic wines from Bodegas Nodus.
Recognition
In 2018, recognition was granted to the eight hundred-year-old oaks of Finca El Renegado as monumental and ornamental trees of the Valencian Community. For this reason, a race was created that celebrated its fourth edition yesterday, already consolidated as one of the most attractive events for lovers of running and trail running. With this, Bodegas Nodus wants to highlight the enormous ecological value of a unique farm of 450 hectares of organic farming. A field day, sport, family and good atmosphere.
