Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection

Bodegas Nodus has been audited and found to comply with the requirements established in the Regulations and the Evaluation Questionnaire of the Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection (SWfCP) standard. The audit has analyzed issues such as the cultivation of the vine, the elaboration, the aging, the aging in barrels and the bottling of white, rosé and red wines.

By meeting the criteria of the SWfCP seal, Bodegas Nodus has obtained a favorable verification report based on the evaluation criteria of the regulation and which defines us as an environmentally sustainable winery. The SWfCP certification is oriented towards the continuous improvement and sustainability of wineries, acting on four fundamental pillars: environmental, social, economic and governance.

The SWfCP seal, developed by the Spanish Wine Federation (FEV) with the technical support of AENOR, is the first certification created by wineries for the wineries themselves, specifically for the wine sector, which demonstrates sustainability in a solid and quantifiable way from a warehouse.

In a global assessment of dozens of items, the environmental dimension contemplates clearly quantifiable magnitudes such as Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, energy efficiency in production processes, water management, soil care and biodiversity. Aspects from the social point of view are also assessed, in which relations with the workforce and supplier companies, local culture and territory, as well as the commitment to the health and safety of workers are audited.

In the economic dimension, the weighting of SWfCP values the efficiency and resilience of the business, while in relation to the governance of the company, the ethical behavior of the winery, the management and communication of sustainability, and the relationship of the company are valued. company with the interest groups related to its daily activity.

Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection SWfCP: a sustainable commitment

Obtaining the Sustainable Wineries for Climate Protection (SWfCP) certificate is a clear commitment by Bodegas Nodus to sustainability that gives continuity to the work that the company does in this regard within its global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strategy. This seal also represents a challenge in which the entire structure of the company embarks and which, so far, only 64 wineries in all of Spain have.

Among the advantages for Bodegas Nodus of obtaining this seal is the fact that it rigorously and measurably demonstrates the sustainability of the wine-growing activity it develops, as well as its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) for the year 2030. The SWfCP seal is a distinction recognized by national and international distribution that implies economic savings in the medium and long term thanks to the improvements established in the production processes to obtain it. Harvest by hand and wine tourism

Among the practices that promote awareness of the importance of sustainability in the wine industry and that reinforce the social aspect of Bodegas Nodus are activities related to wine tourism, such as harvesting by hand, which is offered to the general public in the wineries themselves. land where the grapes are grown, which will later be transformed into Nodus wines and vermouths.

‘Come to harvest at Bodegas Nodus’ is conceived as a wine tourism experience based on the art of harvesting from a playful and casual point of view at Finca El Renegado, located in Caudete de las Fuentes, headquarters of the Valencian winery. The experience is designed for all those who want to know how the harvesting of the fruits is carried out and the subsequent production process that leads to the wine.

The proposal also includes a tasting of the wines from the Bodegas Nodus, which is combined with the experience on the ground of what are the steps that must be taken to go from the vine to the bottle, which implies an awareness of aspects such as caring for the land, highlighting the importance of each process and knowing in detail the entire circuit that the wine goes through until it reaches the table. In addition, this wine tourism experience also includes activities for the little ones in the house, who can enjoy, just like their mothers and fathers, a unique natural environment and the particularities of the elaboration of an ancient product such as Of the wine.

The experience includes a typical lunch with products from the Utiel-Requena region, which ties the experience in the winery to the territory, a tour of the vineyards and the manual harvest on the farm itself, as well as a guided tour of the winery to get to know the manufacturing process in detail. Subsequently, a wine and vermouth tasting is carried out, the tasting of a menu paired with the wines themselves and music and a chill-out atmosphere, already in the afternoon, accompanied by a glass of cava.

Other options related to wine tourism and its relationship with the Utiel-Requena region is the possibility of staying at the Hotel Entreviñas, located in the old farmhouse of the Finca El Renegado, with more than 500 hectares. The house has been rehabilitated respecting its original configuration and is, without a doubt, a recommendable option if you are looking for tranquility and rest from the hustle and bustle of the big city.

In addition, Bodegas Nodus also carries out unique activities such as the ‘Tasting of the Stars’, a night dedicated to the combination of wine tasting, gastronomy and observation of the celestial vault in a privileged setting, without any kind of light pollution, which significantly increases the ability to observe. With the naked eye or with telescopes, always with the help of experts in astronomy, in this very particular tasting the little ones are also welcome, who will have at their disposal activities adapted to their age, as well as a dinner and the possibility of lodging at the Hotel Entreviñas.
